Here at Gilead Baptist Church, we want to focus on family ministry. That is, our goal is to train and encourage our parents to be the spiritual leaders and primary disciple-makers in the home. What most studies show is that parents know their discipleship responsibilities, but do not have the training or make the time. While we cannot always help you schedule your time, we can provide resources that will help you be more effective in training your children and students! Each of our hard copy resources below are found in the Companions Sunday School classroom.
Crossing to Christ
Crossing to Christ is a resource designed to help those who have just accepted Christ grow in their understanding of faith. It is formatted similar to a workbook, which makes it easy for parents to work through it with their children and students.
New city catechism
The New City Catechism is a simple work done by Crossway for the purpose of teaching the doctrine of Christianity. Written in a Q&A format, the book is perfect for learning about God and our life as Christians.
i am a church member
I am a Church Member is a book written by Thom Rainer that outlines the importance of church membership. While not an explicit book for family discipleship, it contains a brief chapter on training our children to love the church.
In addition to the hard copy resources that we have at Gilead, we also want to make some articles available to you. Each of these articles speaks to a different issue, but the point is to help equip our families to do family worship and family devotions in the home.
Along with these articles that outline the need for family devotions, below is a link where Scripture plans for family devotions can be found. Each plan is broken down by month and day to make it simple for your family!
